LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Christoph M. Kimmich upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the Cultural Leadership Award by
the Brooklyn College Foundation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Christoph M. Kimmich has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Christoph
Kimmich upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Cultural Leadership Award by the Brooklyn College Foundation on Wednes-
day, May 20, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Christoph Kimmich has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Christoph Kimmich has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kimmich is retiring after almost a decade as president
and 36 years at Brooklyn College; during his presidency, the college
experienced academic renewal, significant growth in enrollment, and
major renovation and construction; and
WHEREAS, As Chairman of the BCBC's Board of Directors, President
Kimmich has been a dedicated leader and passionate advocate of the arts;
during his tenure, BCBC presented over 600 international artists and
companies, welcoming over 700,000 patrons, and introducing over 450,000
schoolchildren to the live performing arts; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Christoph Kimmich has displayed
throughout his life; he is a true asset to society; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Christoph M. Kimmich upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Cultural Leadership Award by the Brooklyn College Foun-
dation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Christoph M. Kimmich.
