LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donald Padmore upon the occasion of
receiving the Outstanding Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk
Association for Continuing Community Education on June 1, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary pursuit of education as adults; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Donald Padmore upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Student of
the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community
Education at its Awards Dinner to be held on Monday, June 1, 2009, at
the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, A man of extraordinary will and strength, Donald Padmore has
had to endure the unthinkable by mourning the loss of two of his chil-
dren; however, when many would falter, Donald sought help and was able
to turn his life around which will forever serve as a testament to the
everlasting love he has for his children; and
WHEREAS, Donald Padmore prepared for his GED test through the Western
Suffolk BOCES GRASP Home Study Program; while a student with this
program, he never once missed picking up his work from the Amityville
Library every two weeks and always spent more than the 12 hours of work
per packet; and
WHEREAS, Today, after successfully completing the program and earning
his GED, Donald Padmore is employed in the litigation department of the
law firm Cullen and Dykman; and
WHEREAS, When not at work, Donald Padmore volunteers his time as a
Minister counseling those who struggle with alcohol and drugs; he has
also been accepted to Nassau Community College; and
WHEREAS, Donald Padmore attributes much of his success to his wife,
Kelly, who has given her unwavering love and support for the past nine
years, and their two children, David and Grace Elizabeth; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding example of a student who has turned his life
around through education, Donald Padmore has demonstrated integrity and
honor while using Adult Education programming to change the course of
his future; and
WHEREAS, Donald Padmore may now stand with just pride in assessing his
achievements, experiencing the satisfaction of his labors and the joy of
his accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new ventures; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donald Padmore upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding
Student of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing
Community Education on June 1, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donald Padmore.
