LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alan Hochberg upon the occasion of his
retirement after 21 years of distinguished service to Scarsdale Syna-
gogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Alan
Hochberg upon the occasion of his retirement after 21 years of distin-
guished service to Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El, to
be celebrated on Saturday, June 13, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Alan Hochberg has been the Executive Director of Scarsdale
Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El since the position was created in
1988; born in the Bronx, he received an AAS degree from NYC Community
College, a BBA from the University of Miami, and a Juris Doctorate
degree from New York Law School; he was an investigator for the United
States Department of Justice, an Assistant District Attorney for Bronx
County, and an attorney in private practice; and
WHEREAS, After his move to Hartsdale over 20 years ago, Alan Hochberg
became active in community life as President of the Poet's Corner Civic
Association and former Chairman of the Westchester County District
Attorney's Community Relations Office; he has become very active in the
National Association of Temple Administrators (NATA); and
WHEREAS, In addition, Alan Hochberg was on the National Board of NATA
and has become certified as a senior member; he was honored to receive
NATA's community service award; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Faye, their children,
Jason and Michael, as well as his grandchildren, Sophie and Jordan, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Alan Hochberg's distinguished record merits the recognition
and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alan Hochberg.
