LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Patty Maloney-Titland upon the occasion
of receiving the 2009 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholar-
ship and Creative Activities
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Patty Maloney-Titland upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 SUNY
Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activ-
ities; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Nanuet, New York, Patty Maloney-Titland has
been teaching in the Performing Arts Department at SUNY Rockland Commu-
nity College, where she also serves as the Chair, since 1988; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of the 2008 RCC Foundation Leadership Award,
Patty Maloney-Titland is the advisor for the Campus Players and producer
and co-artistic director of the Rockland Shakespeare Company; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Patty Maloney-Titland has directed numerous
productions for SUNY Rockland Community College and the community,
including performances incorporated into Heritage Month events; and
WHEREAS, A professional actor, Patty Maloney-Titland is a member of
the Arts Council of Rockland, the Penguin Repertory Company Board of
Directors and the Parent Community Service Committee; and
WHEREAS, Patty Maloney-Titland earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from
SUNY Oswego and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Catholic University of
America; she was also selected to study for a year at a professional
theater school in the United Kingdom and received a scholarship to the
prestigious Actor's Workshop at the Washington D.C. Arena Stage; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Patty Maloney-Titland and to wish her
continued success in all of her future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Patty Maloney-Titland upon the occasion of receiving the 2009 SUNY
Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activ-
ities; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patty Maloney-Titland.
