LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire
Department upon the occasion of hosting its 100th Annual Fourth of July
Field Day and fireworks show

WHEREAS, Each and every city, town, village and hamlet within its
borders proudly resonates with the rich and noble history of New York
State and this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend events which symbolize the historical, social and cultural
development of this great State and embody the spirit of the principles
upon which this Nation was founded; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department upon the occasion of hosting
its 100th Annual Fourth of July Field Day and fireworks show; and
WHEREAS, This year's events kick off with a parade through downtown to
the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department station, where a chicken
barbecue and entertainment are planned in the municipal park; and
WHEREAS, The field day will feature raffles, food vendors, legal
beverages, displays and exhibits for visitors to enjoy, as well as
bagpipers, All That Jazz dancers, cloggers and the Waverly Band perform-
ing; and
WHEREAS, Belly Buttons the Clown will also be on hand and there will
be a magic show by Bob Shelley and live deejay music provided by Bernie
Brown, followed by a concert by Misguided; the evening will culminate
with a fireworks show at dusk over the St. Regis River; and
WHEREAS, Our proud tradition of celebrating the birth of our Nation on
July 4, 1776 is not only a tribute to our rich history, but a reflection
of our living commitment to the exercise of freedom, a legacy which
rings through the ages and touches every citizen throughout the land of
liberty; and
WHEREAS, The treasured values of families united and wholesome enter-
tainment for all ages reflected in this event help to foster community
spirit and cooperation, as well as preserve the beliefs, ideals and
values for which our forefathers declared the independence of these
United States; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department upon the occasion of
hosting its 100th Annual Fourth of July Field Day and fireworks show,
fully confident that such procedure mirrors our shared commitment to
preserve, to enhance and yet effect the patrimony of freedom which is
our American heritage; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
