LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending A. Maren Hexter upon the occasion of
her designation for special honor by the Music Conservatory of Westches-
ter on February 20, 2009
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay trib-
ute to organizations and individuals whose commitment and creative
talents contribute to the education, entertainment, and cultural enrich-
ment of their community and the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend A. Maren Hexter upon the occasion of her designation for special
honor by the Music Conservatory of Westchester; and
WHEREAS, She will be honored at the Music Conservatory of
Westchester's "Tango & Waltz" concert, an evening of professional music
and dance, to be held at the C.V. Rich Mansion in White Plains, New
York, on Friday, February 20, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1929, the Music Conservatory of Westchester is
Westchester County's oldest professional performing arts organization;
located on Central Avenue in White Plains, the Conservatory is a commu-
nity school of the arts providing comprehensive music, musical theatre,
and music therapy instruction to students of all ages and abilities; and
WHEREAS, The Music Conservatory of Westchester is proudly honoring
Maren Hexter in recognition and appreciation of her extraordinary dedi-
cation to the Conservatory and of her lifelong commitment as a community
leader; and
WHEREAS, A. Maren Hexter, of Armonk, has faithfully and ably served on
the Music Conservatory of Westchester's Board of Trustees for 25 years,
including a term as its President, and her community advocacy, especial-
ly of the arts, reaches far beyond the Conservatory; and
WHEREAS, She continues to serve on the Board of Directors and is a
Past President of the Mount Kisco Concert Association, the Westchester
Arts Council, and United Way of Northern Westchester; she is also a
member of the Executive Committee of United Way of Westchester and
Putnam and, passionate about the arts, she remains connected as well to
her alma mater, Middlebury College as a member of its Arts Council; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Westchester since 1970 Maren Hexter has, in
addition, served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Westches-
ter Chapter of the American Field Service, Chamber Dance Project, Rondo
Dance Theatre, SPCA of Westchester, Westchester Community Foundation and
International Programs of Bedford, of which she is a Past President; and
WHEREAS, Maren Hexter is also a competitive ballroom dancer and the
proud grandmother of four grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, The arts are the building blocks of civilization; they are
central to human expression; they enlighten us and inspire the imagina-
tion; individuals who further such worthy purposes richly merit the
recognition and appreciation of this Legislative Body and the people of
the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend A. Maren Hexter upon the occasion of her designation for special
honor by the Music Conservatory of Westchester on February 20, 2009; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to A. Maren Hexter.
