LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Brian Corcoran upon the occasion
of his designation as the recipient of the 2009 New York State Scout of
the Year Award by the Veterans of Foreign Wars

WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through the
dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding citi-
zens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Brian Corcoran upon the occasion of his designation as the recipi-
ent of the 2009 New York State Scout of the Year Award by the Veterans
of Foreign Wars; and
WHEREAS, Brian Corcoran, a recent graduate of Eldred High School, was
presented with his award on Saturday, July 11, 2009; he is an adult
leader of Troop 102 of Glen Spey and earned his Eagle Scout rank in
October of 2006; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Scout of the Year Award is awarded annual-
ly by the Veterans of Foreign Wars to a Scout who has achieved the Eagle
rank and has demonstrated practical citizenship in school, Scouting and
the community; and
WHEREAS, Brian Corcoran's Eagle Scout leadership project was the
creation of an amphitheater/outdoor classroom in Circle Park; he beat
out every other qualified nominee in New York State and his accomplish-
ments were recognized by many; and
WHEREAS, Brian Corcoran's perseverance in rising through the ranks in
Scouting is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Brian Corcoran upon the occasion of his designation as the
recipient of the 2009 New York State Scout of the Year Award by the
Veterans of Foreign Wars; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brian Corcoran.
