LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION prohibiting disbursement of any funds contained
in an itemized list of grantees for certain appropriations for the
2009-2010 state fiscal year, as required by subdivision 5 of section 24
of the state finance law, to certain entities

WHEREAS, The taxpayers of this state are already overburdened by high
taxes and are experiencing a significant downturn in the economy; and
WHEREAS, It should be the job of every legislator to safeguard the
taxpayers' money from fraud, abuse and corruption; and
WHEREAS, The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now
(ACORN) and its affiliates have shown to be not deserving of taxpayer
moneys; and
WHEREAS, ACORN has been implicated in several voter fraud cases
throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, ACORN has recently been shown to be advising citizens to
break the law; and
WHEREAS, The District Attorney of Brooklyn is currently investigating
ACORN; and
WHEREAS, The United States Census Bureau has recently severed its ties
to ACORN; and
WHEREAS, The United States Senate recently voted overwhelmingly to
block Housing and Urban Development grants from being distributed to
ACORN; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That moneys appropriated for the 2009-2010 state fiscal
year, distributed pursuant to and as required by subdivision 5 of
section 24 of the state finance law, otherwise known as member items,
for the benefit of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform
Now (ACORN), the New York Agency for Community Affairs (NYACA), any
State chapter of ACORN registered with the Secretary of State's office,
any organization that shares directors, employees, or independent
contractors with ACORN, any organization that has a financial stake in
ACORN, or any organization whose finances, whether federally funded,
donor-funded, or raised through organizational goods and services, are
shared or controlled by ACORN, not be distributed.
