LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anthony J. Cava upon the occasion of his
retirement from the New York State Department of Environmental Conserva-
tion after 39 years of distinguished service

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Anthony J. Cava upon the occasion of his retirement from the New York
State Department of Environmental Conservation after 39 years of distin-
guished service; and
WHEREAS, After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
from Manhattan College in 1970, Anthony J. Cava began his career with
the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a
Junior/Assistant Sanitary Engineer in the Region 2 Air Program; and
WHEREAS, Anthony J. Cava was promoted to Senior Sanitary Engineer in
the Region 2 Air Program in 1976, and became an Associate Air Pollution
Control Engineer in Regions 1 and 2 two years later; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Anthony J. Cava was named the Regional Solid and
Hazardous Materials Engineer, where he was responsible for supervising
the solid waste, RCRA, Pesticides and Air programs; during this time, he
also served as Acting Assistant Regional Director and Acting Regional
Director; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the New York State Department of Envi-
ronmental Conservation, Anthony J. Cava served on numerous committees
Including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Technical Commit-
tee on Dioxins, the Hempstead Solid Waste Advisory Committee and the
Port Washington Citizens Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Anthony J. Cava served as the Executive Officer
of B Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry of the New York Army National
Guard, as well as the Marksmanship Training Officer; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career with the New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation, Anthony J. Cava served with intelligence and
caring dedication, continuously striving to effectively fulfill the
duties of his position; and
WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with whom
he worked, Anthony J. Cava will be remembered for his honesty, integri-
ty, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of human prob-
lems in his official acts; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anthony J. Cava upon the occasion of his retirement from the New
York State Department of Environmental Conservation after 39 years of
distinguished service, and to wish him continued success in all of his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony J. Cava.
