LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stanley Gurda upon the occasion of his
designation as the 2009 Pine Island Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the
Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stanley Gurda upon the occasion of his designation as the 2009 Pine
Island Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong citizen of Pine Island, Stanley Gurda has not only
taken his senior years as an occasion to be extremely active in his
community, he has done so in order to improve the quality of life for
other seniors; and
WHEREAS, The President of the Pine Island Seniors, among the most
active seniors groups in the region, Stanley Gurda keeps the 120 members
informed, involved, and active, with lunches, visits to restaurants,
casino gambling, holiday dinners, barbecues at the Polish Legion,
tennis, bowling and bus trips; and
WHEREAS, As a youngster, Stanley Gurda was New York State Jaycees
Outstanding Farmer; he also served on the Town of Warwick Planning Board
and was a member of the Pine Island Volunteer Ambulance Corps, along
with his wife; and
WHEREAS, With Stanley Gurda throughout have been his wife, Doris, and
their two children, Suzanne and Steven, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stanley Gurda upon the occasion of his designation as the 2009
Pine Island Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, and to wish him
continued success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stanley Gurda.
