LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending outgoing co-Presidents Sandra G.
Johnson and Joseph Verdi upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
outgoing co-Presidents Sandra G. Johnson and Joseph Verdi upon the occa-
sion of their designation for special recognition by the Chamber of
Commerce of the Bellmores to be celebrated at its Annual Installation
Dinner Dance on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Woodbury Country
Club, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sandra G. Johnson is the owner of Sandra G. Johnson, CPA,
P.C., an accounting and tax practice located in Bellmore; Sandra's busi-
ness focuses on individuals and the unique needs of small businesses; in
2000, she opened the small one-room office in Bellmore, and today it is
a thriving business; and
WHEREAS, Sandra G. Johnson is currently the Executive Vice President
of the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women; she is
active in the New York State Society of CPAs, the National Conference of
CPA Practitioners and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud
Examiners; and
WHEREAS, She is an Adjunct Professor at Five Towns College where she
teaches Accounting and Small Business Administration; Sandra lectures on
various topics at Hofstra University's Continuing Education College, the
Small Business Development Center at SUNY Farmingdale, and at local
clubs and organizations; and
WHEREAS, Sandra G. Johnson is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed
in the State of New York, an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue
Service, and a Certified Fraud Examiner; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of the 2007 Nassau Council of Chambers of
Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award, Sandra G. Johnson
resides in Merrick, New York, and is the proud mother of three children,
Michael, Kirsten and Christopher; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Verdi is the owner of Income Tax Plus; he started his
successful tax career as a multi-state tax accountant with Avis Rent-A-
Car; and
WHEREAS, In the early 1980s, while regional manager for a computerized
tax preparation firm, Joseph Verdi saw the need for a tax professional
who understands the investment products and the needs of his clients;
there was also a need for an investment professional who understood the
tax laws and how to reduce tax liability; in 1984, he opened Income Tax
Plus in North Bellmore with that mission in mind; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, the company moved to new larger quarters at 1725
Bellmore Avenue; Joseph Verdi has been a chamber member since 1986, and
has served as Treasurer for over 10 years; and
WHEREAS, He is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue
Service, and is a member of the National Association of Tax Profes-
sionals, and the New York State Society of Enrolled Agents; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Verdi resides in Wantagh with his lovely wife, Martha,
and their four sons, and six grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Recognized as pillars within their community, Sandra G. John-
son and Joseph Verdi have been called upon to contribute their time and

talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and have always
given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sandra G. Johnson and Joseph Verdi
have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend outgoing co-Presidents Sandra G. Johnson and Joseph Verdi upon
the occasion of their designation for special recognition by the Chamber
of Commerce of the Bellmores; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sandra G. Johnson and Joseph Verdi.
