LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor David A. Paterson to
proclaim February 24, 2010, as Greater New York Automobile Dealers Asso-
ciation Day in New York State in recognition of its 100th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those organizations that are committed to efficient, ethical
and honest management, sale and service practices for the benefit of the
automobile industry and the consumer; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor David A. Paterson to proclaim February 24, 2010, as Great-
er New York Automobile Dealers Association Day in New York State in
recognition of its 100th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Incorporated on February 24, 1910, to foster the growth of
the automobile industry in the greater New York region, the mission of
the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association has evolved to
encourage efficient, ethical and honest practices through education,
communication and community outreach; and
WHEREAS, The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association has
developed and implemented educational programs for all New Yorkers such
as AutoCAP, the Automobile Consumer Action Program, which offers educa-
tional programs to consumers and provides successful consumer complaint
resolution and mediation services at no cost; and
WHEREAS, Its Center for Automotive Education and Training in White-
stone, Queens, provides training opportunities to ensure a highly-
skilled workforce now and for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, The annual National Automotive Technology Competition spon-
sored by the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association motivates
and encourages excellence among high school students by awarding
millions of dollars in prizes to top automotive technology students; and
WHEREAS, The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association has
demonstrated a commitment to the community through its various charita-
ble efforts including scholarship programs for students, the unemployed
and displaced workers to train or retrain for jobs; and
WHEREAS, Consistent efforts to work with elected officials in adopting
policies which benefit consumers of New York such as the first-in-the-
nation Used Car Lemon Law and Motor Vehicle Retail Leasing Act, and
important safety measures such as seat belt and airbag laws have greatly
benefitted the health and welfare of all citizens; and
WHEREAS, In April 2010, the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Asso-
ciation will be sponsoring the oldest and largest automobile show in
North America, the 110th New York International Automobile Show, bring-
ing international recognition and business to New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this opportu-
nity to salute the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association for
its long history of demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the
auto industry and the community, and to wish this worthy organization
continued success in future years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor David A. Paterson to proclaim February 24, 2010, as
Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association Day in the State of New
York, and to recognize the importance of the services it provides to New
York's citizens; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable David A. Paterson, and to the Greater New York
Automobile Dealers Association.
