LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Richard and Delores Brown upon the occa-
sion of being named the 2010 Leader of Leaders by the Fulton County YMCA

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community;
and
WHEREAS, Richard (Dick) and Delores (Dee) Brown will be honored by the
Fulton County YMCA as its 2010 Leader of Leaders during a dinner dance
to be held on March 5, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Dick is a former President of the YMCA Board of Trustees and
continues to serve on the Board; and
WHEREAS, He has served on the Board of Directors for Wells Nursing
Home and as Chairman of the Capital Campaign for the Johnstown Library
addition; and
WHEREAS, Dick, along with his father and brother, has owned and oper-
ated what is now Brown's Ford since 1955; in 1997, Dick and his two sons
purchased the Ford/Mercury franchise in Amsterdam; and
WHEREAS, Dee enjoyed a successful career teaching nursing at
B.O.C.E.S. and served as coordinator of the nursing program for eight
years; and
WHEREAS, She contributed her time as coordinator of the Johnstown
Council of Churches Food Pantry for 10 years, and as a member of the
Wells House auxiliary; and
WHEREAS, Dee currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Johns-
town Hospital Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Dick and Dee are both active in St. John's Episcopal Church
and have contributed immensely to the Johnstown Public Library; and
WHEREAS, The Brown family has made numerous valuable contributions to
the YMCA, many of which were privately made with little publicity; and
WHEREAS, One notable recent contribution from the family provided
funding for the Teen Center in the new YMCA, which provides a safe place
to play and socialize for hundreds of teens every year; and
WHEREAS, Dick and Dee are the proud parents of two sons and one daugh-
ter; they have also been blessed with nine grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, They have exhibited the true spirit of this prestigious award
through their tireless dedication to the community; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Richard and Delores Brown upon the occasion of being named the
2010 Leader of Leaders by the Fulton County YMCA; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Richard and Delores Brown.
