LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michel Araten upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Westchester Jewish Community
Services

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Michel Araten has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michel Araten
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by West-
chester Jewish Community Services on Thursday, April 15, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Michel Araten has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Michel Araten has a long and highly accomplished association
with Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS); serving as President
since 2007, he has properly helped to navigate the agency during its
challenging fiscal times; and
WHEREAS, Serving on the Board of Directors for the past 20 years,
Michel Araten has shared his professional expertise in management, oper-
ations and finance as head of the Strategic Planning Committee and a
member of the Executive, Finance, Community Residential Care and Jewish
Programming committees; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Jewish Community Center of Harrison, Michel
Araten also serves on the board of the Michael Wolk Heart Foundation;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michel Araten has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Abby, their two sons,
as well as their five granddaughters, all of whom feel privileged to be
a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michel Araten has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michel Araten upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Westchester Jewish Community Services; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michel Araten.
