LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Cornwall Little League Baseball upon
the occasion of celebrating its 60th Anniversary on April 17, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition for youth enhances the moral and phys-
ical development of the young people of this State, preparing them for
the future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and develop-
ing a sense of fair play, sportsmanship and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Cornwall Little League Baseball upon the occasion of celebrating its
60th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event will begin on Saturday, April 17, 2010,
with a parade of players and coaches, starting at the Town Hall in Corn-
wall and ending at the Ed Doty Field at the Curtis A. Remfrey, Jr.
Little League Complex where ceremonies will be held; and
WHEREAS, Cornwall Little League Baseball began in 1951 with four teams
and 48 players; this year, participation in Cornwall Little League Base-
ball will consist of nearly 800 boys and girls, ages 5-16, along with
over 250 volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Under the outstanding leadership of its President, John Carn-
right, Cornwall Little League Baseball is a completely volunteer organ-
ization that provides an outstanding recreational program of Tee-Ball,
Softball and Baseball for the youth of the community based on Little
League Baseball, Inc. affiliation and charter; and
WHEREAS, This milestone anniversary presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Cornwall Little League
Baseball; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
organizations such as Cornwall Little League Baseball which serve to
bring people together for a united purpose and serve the recreational
needs of the youth of the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cornwall Little League Baseball upon the occasion of celebrating
its 60th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Carnright, President, Cornwall Little League Baseball,
Cornwall, New York 12518.
