LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Walter Harold Roundtree,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the great State of New York whose lifework and civic endeav-
ors served to enhance the quality of life for their communities and the
great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Walter Harold Roundtree died on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at
the age of 61; and
WHEREAS, Born in New York, New York, on October 28, 1948, Walter,
affectionately known as "Tree" by family and friends, attended William
Cullen Bryant High School in Woodside, New York, and earned his Bachelor
of Science degree in Political Science from Long Island University; and
WHEREAS, Walter H. Roundtree began his career working for the New York
City Department of Social Services and later, with the Department of
Youth Services; he was soon promoted to Executive Director of seven
youth programs in Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, After serving as Associate Director of the Manhattan-based
Vocational Foundation, Inc., Walter H. Roundtree founded Worldnet Asso-
ciates, Inc. which subsequently led him to an Account Executive position
with DPL, Inc; and
WHEREAS, Walter H. Roundtree vested as a Dividend Manager with Merrill
Lynch, Inc. and returned to his first calling, community service; he was
the Citywide Representative to the New York City Comptroller through
several administrations; he was known for his volunteer and fundraising
efforts in support of health and disaster relief efforts, both locally
and internationally; and
WHEREAS, Walter H. Roundtree distinguished himself by his sincere
dedication to his profession and substantial contribution to the welfare
of his community; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father, Walter Harold Roundtree and his
mother Mary Louise; Walter H. Roundtree is survived by his sisters, one
brother and three children from his former wife Emily, as well as many
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives
and friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion and comforted by a loving family, Walter Harold Roundtree
leaves behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and
will remain a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Walter Harold Roundtree, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Walter Harold "Tree" Roundtree.
