LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jodi Dorfman upon the occasion of her
designation as a recipient of a Youth Volunteer Service Award by the
County of Rockland Youth Bureau

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those youth of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character
and achievements best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this
great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who, by achieving
outstanding success in their chosen endeavors, have inspired and brought
pride to our majestic Empire State, and who distinguish themselves
through their excellence; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Jodi Dorfman upon the occasion of her designation as a recipient of a
Youth Volunteer Service Award by the County of Rockland Youth Bureau;
this auspicious occasion will be celebrated on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at
Terrace on the Hudson in Haverstraw, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Rockland County Youth Bureau is a community resource that
is dedicated to an active and assertive process of creating the social
conditions that promote the well-being of children, youth and families;
and
WHEREAS, Annually, the volunteer Board of Directors of the Rockland
County Youth Bureau present the Joseph A. Myers Service to Youth Award
to deserving youth volunteers at its Youth Forum and Awards ceremony;
and
WHEREAS, Jodi Dorfman is a motivated, intelligent, ambitious, reliable
and compassionate senior at Clarkstown South High School; and
WHEREAS, A three-year member of the New City Volunteer Ambulance
Corps, Jodi Dorfman is also a member of Teen Leadership Rockland; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Jodi Dorfman is involved in several community
efforts, including New City Youth Court, Relay for Life, Jewish War
Veterans and the Rockland County YouthFest; she is also the Deca
regional and statewide winner for professionalism and hospitality; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the accomplishments of remark-
able youth in this great Empire State; Jodi Dorfman is indeed such a
distinguished New York State youth; and
WHEREAS, The designation and outstanding performance of Jodi Dorfman
as a recipient of a Youth Volunteer Service Award has clearly made a
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of Rock-
land County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jodi Dorfman upon the occasion of her designation as a recipient
of a Youth Volunteer Service Award by the County of Rockland Youth
Bureau, and to extend to her the best wishes of this Legislative Body
for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully confident of
her response to a promising future and appreciative of the model she
represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jodi Dorfman.
