LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Dearborn Street Community Associ-
ation upon the occasion of celebrating its Bicentennial Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Dearborn Street Community Association upon the occasion of celebrat-
ing its Bicentennial Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Dearborn Street Community Association of the community of
Black Rock, in Buffalo, New York, is home to the historic site of the
War of 1812; and
WHEREAS, The members of this valuable organization have worked tire-
lessly to make 269 Dearborn Street, at one time a vacant lot, and turn
it into the beautiful Black Rock Heritage Garden; subsequently, this
Garden has now been designated as a Bicentennial Art of Peace Garden by
the Bi-National Tourism Alliance; and
WHEREAS, The Bicentennial Art of Peace Garden has received interna-
tional recognition which celebrates the lasting legacy to 200 years of
peace between the United States and Canada; and
WHEREAS, The Dearborn Street Community Association takes great pride
in their rich history and will expand upon their Bicentennial Art of
Peace Garden with more community gardens in order to express their love
and commitment to the community of Black Rock; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commending the Dearborn Street Community Association upon the occasion
of celebrating its Bicentennial Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Dearborn Street Community Association.
