LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Past President and 50 year member
Dorothy Reutlinger upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition after 50 years of dedicated service as a member of the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energy and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Reutlinger has generously given not only of her time
and energy but also of her competence, intelligence, and leadership on
behalf of her community for many years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Past President and
50 year member Dorothy "Dottie" Reutlinger upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service
as a member of the North Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary;
she will be honored at the auxiliary's 50th Anniversary Brunch, to be
held at the Fire Department in Lindenhurst, New York, on Sunday, May 23,
2010; and
WHEREAS, Historically, the ladies auxiliary of a volunteer fire compa-
ny has been organized to assist, support, and encourage the fire company
in its good work; it is the aim of the ladies auxiliary to cultivate a
spirit of harmony, to promote sociability and to sustain the esteem and
admiration of the community in which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The North Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary
carries out these important functions in an exemplary manner, providing
an invaluable service to the department and community; and
WHEREAS, North Lindenhurst Fire Department members truly appreciate
the women of the department's ladies auxiliary, knowing they will always
be there providing food and refreshments, as well as emotional support,
to them on the scene of emergencies and assisting them on many other
occasions and in many other ways; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to volunteer selflessly, supporting
and assisting the firemen in the provision of fire protection and
prevention; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Reutlinger has willingly and enthusiastically helped
the auxiliary carry out its accepted responsibilities and has contrib-
uted extensively to the awareness and knowledge of her neighbors and
friends, and to the quality of their lives; and
WHEREAS, Through her long and sustained commitment to the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Dorothy Reutlinger has
exhibited outstanding service and leadership in her beloved community
and has demonstrably advanced the perception of Lindenhurst as a caring
and united community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dorothy Reutlinger upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service as a member of
the North Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dorothy Reutlinger.
