LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Lillian S. Weigert upon the occasion
of her designation for special recognition by both the Community Founda-
tion of Dutchess County and the Ulster County Community Foundation on
September 19, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the commu-
nity and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Lillian S. Weigert upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by both the Community Foundation of Dutchess County and the
Ulster County Community Foundation at their Garden Party to be held on
Sunday, September 19, 2010, at Colonel Oliver Hazard Payne Mansion,
Esopus, New York; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Lillian S. Weigert has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to her community and
profession; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, Lillian S. Weigert is a
principal attorney with Gellert & Klein, P.C.; her practice is concen-
trated in business, banking, real estate and probate litigations in
state and federal courts, including appeals; and
WHEREAS, Despite her busy professional life, Lillian S. Weigert has
been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, Lillian S. Weigert is the immediate past Chair of the Board
of Vassar Brothers Medical Center and has served on the Health Quest
Board of Directors; she previously served as Chair of the Dutchess Coun-
ty Economic Corporation, and has also held leadership roles for Hudson
Valley Home Care, Inc. and Barrett House, and served on the boards of
the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill and New Horizons Foundation;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Lillian S. Weigert is a former member of the
Vassar College Campus Investment Responsibility Committee; she attended
Vassar College, is a graduate of Yale College and the University of
Virginia Law School, and attended the University of Paris Law School,
France; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lillian S. Weigert has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Lillian S. Weigert has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Lillian S. Weigert upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by both the Community Foundation of Dutchess County
and the Ulster County Community Foundation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lillian S. Weigert.
