LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Joanne Gerace of Tiny's State Street
Grill in Utica, New York, upon the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of
her ownership, May 13, 2010

WHEREAS, Organizations and individuals which serve the economic well-be-
ing and interests of the people of this great Empire State merit the
commendation of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Joanne Gerace of Tiny's State Street Grill in Utica, New York, upon the
occasion of the 20th Anniversary of her ownership; this auspicious occa-
sion was celebrated on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at an anniversary cele-
bration attended by local officials who presented several commemorative
plaques and proclamations; and
WHEREAS, The original Tiny's State Street Grill in Utica, New York,
was founded more than 70 years ago on Whitesboro Circle by Ed "Tiny"
Wolack; it moved to its current location in 1962, where it is most
recognizable by the statues of the Blues Brothers that grace its
awnings; and
WHEREAS, In 1990, Tiny's State Street Grill was purchased by its
current owner, Joanne Gerace; she previously worked as the general
manager of the Utica Blue Sox baseball team; and
WHEREAS, During her ownership of Tiny's State Street Grill, Joanne
Gerace has made various improvements to the building but made sure to
maintain the original atmosphere and traditions, including the restau-
rant's famous kielbasa and hot pepper sandwiches and jazz performances;
and
WHEREAS, Tiny's State Street Grill, a neighborhood establishment with
enormous staying power, is ingrained in the Utica community and culture;
and
WHEREAS, Both Joanne Gerace and Tiny's State Street Grill have a proud
tradition of involvement with the City of Utica; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Joanne Gerace and
Tiny's State Street Grill in Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when business
organizations and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Joanne Gerace of Tiny's State Street Grill in Utica, New York,
upon the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of her ownership; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joanne Gerace, Tiny's State Street Grill, Utica, New York.
