LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Amber Gance of Endicott, New York,
upon the occasion of winning the 2009-2010 National American Miss New
York Pageant

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
talent, skill, dedication and commitment of our young people who distin-
guish themselves through excellence in national pageant competitions;
and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in national
pageant competitions, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Amber Gance upon the occasion of winning the 2009-2010 National
American Miss New York Pageant; and
WHEREAS, The National American Miss pageant is held for young girls
and is dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its
future leaders; the pageants recognize and assist in the development and
empowerment of young women nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation, the
National American Miss pageants are for "Today's Girl" and "Tomorrow's
Leaders"; emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confi-
dence, building new skills, learning good attitudes about competition,
and achieving personal goals; and
WHEREAS, Amber Gance, a 14-year-old who has earned the prestigious
title of the 2009-2010 National American Miss New York, competed against
60 other state finalists in Rochester; she also earned first in the
title, Talent Miss New York, for her vocal entry and was awarded the
Contestants Choice for Most Friendly; and
WHEREAS, The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each
girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future; her other inter-
ests include, performing at Endicott Performing Arts Center and with the
Summer Savoyards, attending Kathy Hansen School of Dance and vocal
performance lessons from Hilary Kline Rensi, as well as participating in
sports at Union-Endicott Middle School; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her parents, Kurt and Linda
Gance, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice
in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the accomplishments of remark-
able young people in this great Empire State who participate in national
pageant competitions; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Amber Gance of Endicott, New York, upon the occasion of
winning the 2009-2010 National American Miss New York Pageant; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Amber Gance, Endicott, New York.
