LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lynda Rolston Krause upon the occasion
of being inducted into the Rome Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, August 1,
2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those exemplary athletes, coaches, and administrators who
have distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding
commitment, attaining unprecedented success and the highest level of
personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lynda Rolston Krause upon the occasion of being inducted into the Rome
Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, August 1, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Lynda Rolston Krause is regarded as one of the city's most
successful gymnasts; she got her start in the sport at the Rome Family
YMCA before moving on to become a highly-regarded performer on the
national level with Valley Gymnastics under the tutelage of Rome Sports
Hall of Famer Jill Brodock; and
WHEREAS, While still in junior high, Lynda Rolston Krause began to
compete on a national level as a gymnast in USGF- and AAU-sanctioned
events in the floor exercise, balance beam, vault and uneven bars
events; as a high school student she was an All-American gymnast and
Empire State Games medalist, and she later accepted an athletics schol-
arship for gymnastics at the University of Southern California; she was
honored as a scholar-athlete as a member of the nationally ranked USG
squad; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, Lynda Rolston Krause was one of 30 college gymnasts
nationwide selected to serve as a gymnastics competition assistant and
escort during the Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles; after gradu-
ating from college, she remained active in gymnastics as a volunteer
with the highly successful University of Utah program and was recently
honored by the school for her 20 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Lynda Rolston Krause remains active in sports and resides in
Salt Lake City, where she is a federal prosecutor and an assistant U.S.
attorney for the District of Utah; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lynda Rolston Krause upon the occasion of being inducted into the
Rome Sports Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lynda Rolston Krause.
