LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jack G. Veazy for his devoted service as
New York State Senior Vice Commander of the United States Veterans of
Foreign Wars

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize those
individuals of preeminent character whose lives exemplify the highest
ideals of humanity and whose lifework and civic endeavor serve to
enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jack
G. Veazy for his devoted service as New York State Senior Vice Commander
of the United States Veterans of Foreign Wars; he was recognized at the
State Commander's Homecoming Picnic on Saturday, July 17, 2010, held in
Rome, New York; and
WHEREAS, Jack G. Veazy has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 26, 1942, Jack G. Veazy graduated from North
Miami High School prior to entering the United States Army in July 1964;
and
WHEREAS, Jack G. Veazy completed basic training in Fort Jackson, South
Carolina, and then trained as Helicopter Crew Chief in Fort Eustis,
Virginia; he received orders for Vietnam in December 1966 where he
proudly served as Helicopter Crew Chief before returning to the United
States in January of 1968; and
WHEREAS, Upon his return home, Jack G. Veazy joined the VFW in Miami
and held several Post Chairs; he served as Post Commander from 1974-1975
and was the Dade County Veterans Council Commander from 1974-1976; and
WHEREAS, Jack G. Veazy transferred to the Rome Post 2246 in 1980; he
was elected Post Quartermaster and diligently served in this position
from 1980-2001; he has also held various Chairs in the Mohawk Adirondack
County Council as well as in the 4th District where he held the rank of
4th District Commander and was selected as All American District Comman-
der; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Jack G. Veazy has served as State Membership
Chairman; he also taught the first membership class by Satellite at OTI
in Binghamton and was National Deputy Chief for three years; in June
2008, at the State Convention, he was elected State Junior Vice Comman-
der; in June 2009, he was elected State Senior Vice Commander; and
WHEREAS, As the State Senior Vice Commander, Jack G. Veazy has contin-
ually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and
diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both the VFW and his
community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his VFW duties, Jack G. Veazy serves as a
member of the Selective Board No. 49 in Rome, New York; he also belongs
to the Masonic Lodge, Stanwix Veterans Men's Club, Military Order of the
Cooties, American Legion and 40/8; moreover, he has been a member of the
Rome Post Color Guard for many years and is the recipient of the order
of the silver rose; and
WHEREAS, Jack G. Veazy recently retired from the National Park Service
where he served for 20 years as Facility Manager; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jack G. Veazy has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Terri, who feels
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jack G. Veazy has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jack G. Veazy for his devoted service as New York State Senior
Vice Commander of the United States Veterans of Foreign Wars; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jack G. Veazy.
