LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Anna Ventura upon the occasion of her
induction into Our Lady of Pompeii's Wall of Fame

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to recognize and pay tribute to
those individuals of firm belief and commitment who have devoted their
purposeful lives to the service of faith and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Anna Ventura upon the occasion of her induction into Our Lady of
Pompeii's Wall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Upon the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of
Pompeii Church, a centennial celebration will begin with a Mass on
Sunday, May 17, 2009, offered by Bishop Edward U. Kmiec; immediately
following will be a banquet at Salvatore's Italian Garden, where Anna
Ventura will be honored; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii, Anna Ventura,
93 years young, has continually demonstrated extreme competence,
extraordinary intelligence and diligent leadership in her unwavering
service to her Church as well as the community and consequently has been
designated for this most prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1915, three years after her family emigrated from
Italy, Anna Ventura is the third of eight children; she attended the
congregation's parish school and received all of her sacraments from Our
Lady of Pompeii; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Anna Ventura has been called
upon to contribute her time and talents to countless endeavors on behalf
of Our of Lady of Pompeii and has always given of herself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, Anna Ventura taught at the Church's elementary school from
1961-1973; she later became the school's librarian, a position she held
until 1993; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her service, a period of
constructive involvement, Anna Ventura has stood constant in dignity,
good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Anna Ventura has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Anna Ventura upon the occasion of her induction into Our Lady of
Pompeii's Wall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anna Ventura.
