LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori
Teitelbaum upon the occasion of their designation for special honor by
Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst on March 28, 2009

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals and organizations of remarkable integ-
rity and character who distinguish themselves in service to their faith
and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori Teitelbaum upon the occasion of their
designation for special honor by Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst at
its 28th Annual Dinner on March 28, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori Teitelbaum arrived at
Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst in 1987, after serving as the Rav
and spiritual leader of Congregation Schomre Israel in Poughkeepsie, New
York, and Assistant Rabbi of Congregation Bais Torah in Suffern; and
WHEREAS, In addition to serving as Rav of Young Israel of Lawrence-Ce-
darhurst, Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum is the Rabbinic advisor of Kulanu and a
founding member of the Kulanu Board; he also spearheaded the efforts to
expand the community Eruv and is active in the Vaad Hakashrut; and
WHEREAS, After spending her younger years in Miami Beach, Florida,
Rebbetzin Sori Teitelbaum moved to Monsey, New York, in her early teens;
she received both secular and Judaic degrees in education and has been a
member of the Judaic Studies faculty at HAFTR Middle School for the past
20 years; and
WHEREAS, Rebbetzin Sori Teitelbaum has also served as PTA President
for her children's schools and is a steady, trusted advisor to the
Sisterhood Presidents at Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst; and
WHEREAS, With Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori Teitelbaum throughout
their 27 years have been their seven children, Binyamin and Penina,
Dovid and Rivky, Ephraim and Leah, Heshel, Chananya, Esther and Elishe-
va, and two grandchildren, Eliezer and Yocheved, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of their lives and rejoice in their many achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori
Teitelbaum and to wish them continued success in all of their future
endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori Teitelbaum upon the occasion
of their designation for special honor by Young Israel of Lawrence-Ce-
darhurst on March 28, 2009; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rabbi and Rebbetzin Moshe and Sori Teitelbaum.
