LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor David A. Paterson to
proclaim July 18-24, 2010, as Contract Management Week in the State of
New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly acknowl-
edge those organizations whose endeavors serve the best interests of the
workforce in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) is a
membership-based professional society of acquisition experts headquar-
tered in Ashburn, Virginia; NCMA's 20,000 members come from diverse
backgrounds in both government and industry; including multinational
corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, government agencies,
and consulting firms; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1959, the National Contract Management Association
is a nonprofit organization, which is committed to supporting ethical
behavior, as well as the education and promotion of professional
relationships between contract managers; and
WHEREAS, Contract Management Week, to be held July 18-24, 2010, in
conjunction with NCMA's World Congress, will be a time dedicated to
continued professional development, organizational focus, and personal
recognition, for the practice and practitioners; and
WHEREAS, There are seven chapters in New York, the Long Island Chap-
ter, New York Southern Tier Chapter, Western New York Chapter, Greater
New York Chapter, Leatherstocking Chapter, Capital Region Chapter, and
the Finger Lakes Chapter; and
WHEREAS, Highly skilled professional managers make up the work force
to effectively administer the contracts that are vital to our Nation's
economy and security; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor David A. Paterson to proclaim July 18-24, 2010, as
Contract Management Week in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable David A. Paterson, Governor of the State of New
York.
