LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Julie Dewey upon the occasion of receiv-
ing a State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excel-
lence

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exem-
plify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Julie Dewey, of Horseheads, New York, upon the occasion of receiving a
State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence;
and
WHEREAS, A student at SUNY Oneonta, Julie Dewey is a young woman of
singular distinction and superlative abilities who has established a
high standard of academic excellence and purposefulness of life rarely
achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence was created to
recognize State University students who have integrated academic excel-
lence with outstanding accomplishments in the areas of leadership,
athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, or career
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Julie
Dewey now stands honorably, with just pride in her accomplishments and
in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appreciat-
ing the caring counsel and support provided by her teachers, friends and
family; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Julie Dewey upon the occasion of receiving a State University of
New York Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, and to extend to her
its best wishes for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully
confident of her response to a promising future and appreciative of the
model she represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Julie Dewey.
