LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Aaron D. Rosen upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition on May 17, 2010

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are vital parts of, and valuable
assets to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Aaron D. Rosen upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition, and to wish him a Happy 75th Birthday, to be celebrated on
Monday, May 17, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Born May 17, 1935, to Theodore and Irene Rosen of Flatbush,
Brooklyn, New York, Aaron D. Rosen settled with his family 14 years
later to the suburbs of Suffolk County on Maple Avenue in Patchogue, New
York; and
WHEREAS, As a young boy, Aaron D. Rosen's hobbies and accomplishments
included studying piano, art, boats and politics; he grew up participat-
ing in the family business of the Patchogue Lumber Yard and real estate;
and
WHEREAS, After serving his country in the United States Coast Guard
during the Korean War, Aaron D. Rosen went on to study commercial art,
business and real estate; and
WHEREAS, One of the first affirmative action and compliance officers
in New York State during his 20 year tenure with the Department of
Transportation, Aaron D. Rosen retired from New York State service as a
career civil servant at age 55; and
WHEREAS, A Vice Commander of American Legion Post No. 269 of Patc-
hogue, New York, Aaron D. Rosen also served with the Suffolk County
court system as District Officer; in addition, he was a past recruiter
for the New York Blood Bank and an assistant manager of a department
furniture store; and
WHEREAS, Aaron D. Rosen has been brought in to a family tradition of
"Lionism" as a member of the Patchogue Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Carrie, of 46 years;
he is the father of Jerry and Debbie, and the loving grandfather of
Matthew; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional septuagenarian with his zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man, who has experienced the incredible
joys and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the
stamina and courage to savor a full life, has inspired all those around
him; and
WHEREAS, Aaron D. Rosen has enriched the lives of those who have been
privileged to know him through his joyous and sincere love for others,
and through the quiescent charm and wisdom which come only from a full-
ness of years; and
WHEREAS, Truly an extraordinary man who has led an exemplary life of
humanitarian service, Aaron D. Rosen is defined by simple modesty and a
boundless energy that is amazing and inspiring; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and awesome
achievements of this country during the last seven decades, while them-
selves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Aaron D. Rosen upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition, and to wish him a Happy 75th Birthday to be cele-
brated on Monday, May 17, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Aaron D. Rosen.
