LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Aine Sheridan upon the occasion of being
named Honorary Grand Marshal of the 35th Annual Queens County St.
Patrick's Day Parade, to be held on March 6, 2010

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout these United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day Parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and highlights the many
contributions and historical accomplishments of the Irish community in
this diverse land; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Aine Sheridan
upon the occasion of being named Honorary Grand Marshal of the 35th
Annual Queens County St. Patrick's Day Parade, to be held on Saturday,
March 6, 2010; and
WHEREAS, This year the 35th Annual Queens County St. Patrick's Day
Parade will also honor Patrick J. McGowan as Grand Marshal and The
Honorable Martin Golden as Honorary Grand Marshal of the parade and will
recognize The Honorable John Ingram, Edward Valentine, Patrick Sullivan,
Joseph Lynch, Jr., William Glynn, Maureen O'Malley-Byrnes, Kathleen
Clarke, Martin Dunn and Andrew Healey as Deputy Honorary Grand Marshals
of the Parade; and
WHEREAS, A native of Edgeworthstown, County Longford, Ireland, Aine
Sheridan emigrated to New York City in 1984; and
WHEREAS, Currently Executive Vice President of Irish Radio Network USA
and President of Flannelly Promotions Ltd., when Aine Sheridan came to
America she was appointed Executive Vice President of Tintawn Carpets
USA, the United States subsidiary of Irish Ropes, based in Newbridge,
County Kildare; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, she traveled throughout the United States
and Canada and is credited with overseeing the company's progressive
North American operations; and
WHEREAS, Aine Sheridan next conducted critical research on the Ameri-
can market for Enterprise Ireland, Ireland's government agency responsi-
ble for the development and promotion of Irish companies and export
sales; and
WHEREAS, In 1991, Aine Sheridan became the Executive Vice President of
Irish Radio Network USA; among her notable achievements, she was instru-
mental in the expansion of the longest running Irish American Radio
Show, her husband's show, "The Adrian Flannelly Show," by initiating
international broadcast links with numerous stations in Ireland and the
United States; she also established the Irish radio website
www.irishradio.com, a leading Irish American news and entertainment
audio channel for listeners worldwide; and
WHEREAS, As President of Flannelly Promotions Ltd., a Madison Avenue
based public relations firm, Aine Sheridan has coordinated numerous
political campaigns and the most recent Irish American Presidential
Forum; and
WHEREAS, Despite her busy professional life, Aine Sheridan has been
called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; she
serves on the board of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center and is justly
proud of having been named the Longford Social Club of New York's Woman
of the Year and one of IRISH AMERICA magazine's Top 50 Most Influential
Irish American Women in 2008 and 2009; and
WHEREAS, Aine Sheridan embodies the spirit and the cherished ideals
and values of Irish-Americans of this great State and nation; it is the

sense of this Legislative Body that when individuals of such aims and
accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated
and recognized by all the citizens of the great State of New York; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Aine Sheridan upon the occasion of her designation as Honorary
Grand Marshal of the 35th Annual Queens County St. Patrick's Day Parade,
to be held on March 6, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Aine Sheridan.
