LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating Robert Gangi upon the occasion of
his 30-year career at the Correctional Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly recognize
those extraordinary individuals who have made contributions to the
success and progress of society in the course of their life's work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate Robert Gangi upon the occasion of his 30-year career at the
Correctional Association, to be celebrated on Friday, October 1, 2010;
and
WHEREAS, Robert Gangi is stepping down as Executive Director and is
being recognized for three decades of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, Robert Gangi has served as Executive Director of the Correc-
tional Association (CA) for over 28 years; he has been an activist,
community organizer and public policy advocate in New York City for over
30 years; and
WHEREAS, Robert Gangi is an expert on correctional issues and manages
all aspects of the CA, developing plans for research, public education
and advocacy projects, and managing its professional staff; he has
cultivated ongoing relationships with members of the media and policy
makers which are critical to the CA's advocacy and public education
efforts; and
WHEREAS, Robert Gangi has written or co-written numerous op-ed pieces
for THE NEW YORK TIMES, NEWSDAY and ALBANY TIMES UNION; and
WHEREAS, Robert Gangi's distinguished record merits the recognition
and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate Robert Gangi upon the occasion of his 30-year career at the
Correctional Association; and to wish him continued success in all his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Gangi.
