LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Honorable Elizabeth Manzella upon
the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Woman of Achievement
Award by Suffolk County

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Elizabeth Manzella has given not only of her
time and energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leader-
ship and consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The Honor-
able Elizabeth Manzella upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Woman of Achievement Award by Suffolk County to be observed
at its Annual Woman of Achievement Award celebration on Wednesday, May
4, 2011, at Villa Lombardi's, Holbrook, New York; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Manzella, affectionately known as Betty, serves as
the Vice Chair of the Brookhaven Town Committee; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Manzella has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A breast cancer survivor, Elizabeth Manzella spends many
hours volunteering with the American Cancer Society and the Walk For
Beauty; she also participates in the Annual Long Island 2 Day Breast
Cancer Walk; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, this remarkable woman has been involved with
numerous community organizations, including the Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts,
the Mastic-Shirley Homemakers Council, St. Jude's Religious Education,
the TRI-Hamlet Neighborhood Watch, William Floyd PTO/SEPTO, the Smith
Point Beach Property Owners Association, the Smith Point-Tri Hamlet
Community Development Corp. and the William Floyd Community Summit; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Elizabeth Manzella has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Neil, three sons
and their spouses, as well as their two treasured grandchildren, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Elizabeth Manzella has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable Elizabeth Manzella upon the occasion of her desig-
nation as recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award by Suffolk County;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Elizabeth Manzella.
