LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff
Katz upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of the Women
in Business Champions Award by the YWCA of White Plains and Central
Westchester

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff Katz upon the occasion of their
designation as recipients of the Women in Business Champions Award by
the YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester; this auspicious occa-
sion will be celebrated at the organization's "In the Company of Women"
event, to be held on Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff Katz are entrepreneurs
and the owners of Klaff's Home Design Store; and
WHEREAS, Klaff's Home Design Store is made up of five distinct, walk-
through, Art Gallery-like showrooms: lighting, kitchens, bath, decora-
tive hardware, and tile and stone; all of these showrooms are under one
roof; and
WHEREAS, Offering the finest home design products from around the
world, Klaff's Home Design Store is proud of its prolific 89-year histo-
ry which has led it to become the region's ultimate resource for home
design ideas, guidance, and selection; and
WHEREAS, Raised working with their parents in Klaff's plumbing and
hardware store, in 1959 sisters Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff
Katz were the owners of a well established, highly respected business in
home lighting and bath, along with wholesale plumbing, heating, elec-
trical supplies and a lumber yard; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff Katz have
a lifetime of supporting, promoting and empowering generations of capa-
ble women in their stores throughout Westchester County and Connecticut;
and
WHEREAS, Through their generous philanthropy, Mollie Klaff Passero and
Debbie Klaff Katz have supported many local social, cultural and educa-
tional charities; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their professional and commu-
nity service, a period of constructive involvement, Mollie Klaff Passero
and Debbie Klaff Katz have stood constant in dignity, good grace and
humor, and have earned the respect and admiration of their colleagues,
family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie
Klaff Katz have displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff Katz upon the occasion of

their designation as recipients of the Women in Business Champions Award
by the YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mollie Klaff Passero and Debbie Klaff Katz.
