LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jane Peck upon the occasion of her
designation by the Town of Wilmington as the recipient of its Lifetime
Achievement Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the achievements of individuals, organizations, and businesses
which contribute substantially to the economic health and vitality of
the communities of the State of New York, and to their quality of life;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jane
Peck upon the occasion of her designation by the Town of Wilmington as
the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrated on Tuesday,
March 15, 2011; and
WHEREAS, This particular award has been a tradition in the Wilmington
community for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Jane Peck in
recognition of her enduring outstanding service; and
WHEREAS, At 85 years old, Jane Peck has been a member of the Nazarene
Church for more than 40 years where she plays piano and serves as the
financial secretary; she was Wilmington's postmaster for more than 30
years and has been a member of the Friends of the Library for 20 years;
and
WHEREAS, Having a true passion for knitting, Jane Peck knits every-
thing from hats, mittens and scarves to prayer shawls that are often
sent around the world; she spends her time knitting for good causes,
like "World Vision's Knit for Kids", a program that sends warm garments
as far away as Armenia, Nicaragua, Swaziland and Tanzania, and as close
as the Bronx in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Through her extraordinary efforts and commitment of time and
energy, Jane Peck has demonstrated an inspirational devotion to the
continuing betterment of the Town of Wilmington; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the
edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jane Peck upon the occasion of her designation by the Town of
Wilmington as the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jane Peck.
