LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Angela Gallo upon the occasion of her
induction into the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame on May 4, 2011

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals who have distinguished themselves in their chosen
field of endeavor, in their community, or through a lifetime of good
citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Angela Gallo upon the occasion of her induction into the Fontbonne Hall
Academy Hall of Fame on May 4, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Angela Gallo will be honored at the school's Fleur de Lys
Dinner Dance, to be held at Gargiulo's Restaurant in Brooklyn on Wednes-
day, May 4, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The greatest asset of any society is its children and the
hope and promise they represent for the future; Brooklyn's Fontbonne
Hall Academy has a proud and rich history of providing young women with
an educational foundation which is both strong and enduring; and
WHEREAS, Fontbonne Hall Academy has been a leader in educating young
women for more than 71 years; it is a college-preparatory school whose
mission is to offer a superior educational program while forming and
empowering young women of confidence and compassion; located in Bay
Ridge, Brooklyn, its students come from southwest Brooklyn, southern
Queens and Staten Island; and
WHEREAS, Each year at its Fleur de Lys Dinner Dance, Fontbonne Hall
Academy proudly honors outstanding members of the Fontbonne family and
community who exemplify and support its mission and whose lives and
accomplishments epitomize the character and tenets of the school,
inducting them into its Hall of Fame; Angela Gallo truly merits this
high honor; and
WHEREAS, Angela Gallo was born Angela Braccia in Sant'Angelo dei
Lombardi, Italy; on December 16, 1961, at the age of eight, she came to
the United States with her family and went directly to Brooklyn, where
she has lived ever since; and
WHEREAS, Angela attended Our Lady of Peace Elementary School on
Carroll Street in Downtown Brooklyn; she then moved on to the Bay Ridge
High School College Bound Program; the school, which later became the
High School for Telecommunication Arts and Technology, was a single
gender school for girls at that time; and
WHEREAS, Angela enjoyed the rigorous coursework in the college bound
program, as well as being in an all girls school; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation, she was hired by Chase Manhattan Bank, for
which she worked from 1972 until 1986; during those 14 years, she
advanced through many departments, culminating in a job as Assistant to
the Executive Vice-President of Global Banking; in that capacity, Angela
was often in charge of presentations and served as an advisor to much of
the company's personnel; and
WHEREAS, On November 24, 1973, Angela Braccia married Nick Gallo and,
on April 4, 1986, they were blessed by the birth of their daughter
Noelle; and
WHEREAS, Angela decided to be a stay-at-home mom in order to be able
to spend time with Noelle and to be there to enjoy all of her firsts;
when Noelle started school, Angela became involved in the parent associ-
ations of Noelle's schools; and
WHEREAS, At PS 229, she served on the Board of the Parent-Teacher
Association and, when Noelle moved on to the Genesis School, Angela also
moved on to its Board and served on the Finance Committee; and

WHEREAS, Her work drew the attention of the school's administration,
and, when Noelle graduated, Angela Gallo was hired by the Director to
work in the Genesis school office, a job that she enjoys to this day;
and
WHEREAS, Angela recalls that from the time that Noelle was a little
girl, she wanted to go to Fontbonne Hall Academy; in 2000, when Noelle
started at Fontbonne, so did Angela; and
WHEREAS, She became very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary, working
until late at night wrapping gifts for the Scholarship Dinner; she was
also one of the founding members of the Fleur de Lys Committee and has
remained involved in both of these events; and
WHEREAS, She has also been involved on the committee for Fontbonne's
annual Golf, Tennis and Pool Outing, helping in every way she could, as
well as attending the event; and
WHEREAS, Fontbonne Hall Academy appreciates all the time and talent
Angela Gallo has contributed to the school and is fittingly proud to
induct her into its Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such outstanding accomplishment are brought to its attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of the
great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Angela Gallo upon the occasion of her induction into the Font-
bonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame at its Fleur de Lys Dinner Dance on May
4, 2011; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Angela Gallo.
