LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Janis Bianco upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2011 School-Related Professional of the
Year Award by the New York State United Teachers

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this great
State; and
WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and the
success of the Rondout Valley Central Schools is due in large part to
the efforts of Janis Bianco; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Janis Bianco
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2011 School-Re-
lated Professional of the Year Award by the New York State United Teach-
ers (NYSUT); and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event was celebrated at NYSUT's Annual Repre-
sentative Assembly held in New York City, April 7, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Janis Bianco has continually demonstrated an impressive dedi-
cation, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the
quality of the educational programs and opportunities offered at the
Rondout Valley Central Schools for the benefit of their faculty and
students, as well as for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Janis Bianco, Senior Stenographer at the Rondout Valley
Central Schools, has been a union activist for 30 years; and
WHEREAS, After starting out as a building representative, Janis Bianco
was elected President of the Secretarial Unit; she played a pivotal role
in the merging of the secretarial, paraprofessional, and teacher units
to form the Rondout Valley Federation of Teachers and School-Related
Professionals; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Janis Bianco serves as the Third Vice President of
the Rondout Valley Federation of Teachers and School-Related Profes-
sionals; in this capacity, she brings years of experience to the table,
sharing insight, and encouraging others to take active roles and stay
committed to the union mission; and
WHEREAS, A true humanitarian, Janis Bianco helped organize the Project
Elf program in which the staff at the Rondout Valley Middle School
donate gifts to needy families during the holidays; in addition, she
volunteers at the local hospital as well as for the American Cancer
Society Relay for Life; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Janis Bianco and to wish her contin-
ued success in all of her future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Janis Bianco upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2011 School-Related Professional of the Year Award by the New York
State United Teachers, and for her significant contributions to educa-
tion in New York State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Janis Bianco.
