LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gail and Robert Gordon upon the occa-
sion of their designation for special recognition by the Temple Isaiah
of Great Neck, New York

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Gail and Robert Gordon have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Gail and
Robert Gordon upon the occasion of their designation for special recog-
nition by the Temple Isaiah of Great Neck, New York, to be celebrated at
its Annual Dinner/Journal on Thursday, May 19, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Gail and Robert Gordon have been members of Temple Isaiah for
over 15 years; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Great Neck South High School, Robert Gordon did
his undergraduate work at George Washington University and obtained a
Masters of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Teacher's
College, Columbia University; and
WHEREAS, A psychologist, Robert Gordon is an Associate Professor,
Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, NYU Langone Medical Center, and
is the Director of the Psychology Internship training program at Rusk
Institute; he also maintains private psychology practice offices in
Manhattan and Great Neck; and
WHEREAS, Gail Gordon, who practices law under the name Gail Jacobs,
specializes in the fields of Family and Appellate law; a graduate of
Kenyon College and Columbia University School of Law, she is an Adjunct
Professor at Fordham University School of Law; and
WHEREAS, Gail and Robert Gordon have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Robert Gordon serves on the Board of Overseers of Ferkauf
Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, from which he
received his Doctoral degree in Psychology; and
WHEREAS, Gail Gordon is a member of the Board of Directors of the
Nassau County Bar Association, and a former Dean of the Nassau Academy
of Law; she currently Chairs the Temple Isaiah's Worship Committee; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Gail Gordon is a founding member of Yashar, the
first attorney and judges' Chapter of Hadassah; she has served on the
board of Trustees at Temple Isaiah for many years and in many capacities
including her most recent position as Chair of the Worship Committee;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Gail and Robert Gordon have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Gail and Robert Gordon have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gail and Robert Gordon upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by the Temple Isaiah of Great Neck, New York;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gail and Robert Gordon.
