LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James Luka upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
James Luka upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition,
to be celebrated at the 4th Annual Men of Distinction Awards Ceremony,
on Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, James Luka has been employed with the New York City Housing
Authority (NYCHA) for 18 years and has worked as a housing assistant,
assistant manager, and is currently the manager of two housing units;
and
WHEREAS, As an NYCHA property manager, James Luka is responsible for
safeguarding capital invested, controlling costs, maximizing revenues
and maintaining a safe, livable environment for all tenants; and
WHEREAS, A priority of James Luka has been customer service and
relations in his work; he provides an open door policy that allows
tenants to meet with him on issues that cannot be solved with their
housing assistant; he has been an effective liaison between tenants
living in homes within NYCHA developments and the NYCHA; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James Luka upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Luka.
