LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the dedication of the Memorial Wall
Monument at Orchard Park American Legion Post 567 on Memorial Day, May
30, 2011

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
dedication of the Memorial Wall Monument at Orchard Park American Legion
Post 567 on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Memorial Wall Monument at Orchard Park American Legion
Post 567 serves as a fitting tribute to the men and women who have so
courageously served in our armed forces in an effort to protect and
preserve the cherished values of our Nation; and
WHEREAS, The outside wall of the Memorial Wall Monument consists of
two polished, engraved granite stones as its centerpiece; on each side
of the stones are bricks, each etched with a personal message to those
men and women who have heroically served our country; the monument also
includes granite plaques honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice
and those who are listed as prisoners of war or missing in action (POW-
MIA); and
WHEREAS, The Memorial Wall Monument at Orchard Park American Legion
Post 567 provides a place for families and friends to come to remember
and salute the service of these men and women; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the dedication of the Memorial Wall Monument at Orchard Park
American Legion Post 567 on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Orchard Park American Legion Post 567.
