LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Isaiah's Temple of Mount Hope Spiritu-
al Baptist Church upon the occasion of hosting Brooklyn's Stellar Women
and Gospel Extravaganza

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to celebrate the
milestones of those enduring places of worship within the State of New
York which serve the spiritual needs of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Isaiah's
Temple of Mount Hope Spiritual Baptist Church upon the occasion of host-
ing Brooklyn's Stellar Women and Gospel Extravaganza held on Saturday,
May 14, 2011, in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Isaiah's Temple of Mt. Hope Spiritual Baptist Church, Inc.
was founded 18 years ago by Archbishop Dr. Voni B. Johyn; since its
inception, this organization has grown from nine founding members to
over 300 members on record and counting; and
WHEREAS, During these 18 years, Isaiah's Temple of Mount Hope Spiritu-
al Baptist Church has formed alliances with other neighboring organiza-
tions within the East New York and Brownsville communities and extends
its services to provide a Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry service; and
WHEREAS, These particular services extend to the needy, underserved,
homeless, and displaced individuals; in addition, it is also instru-
mental in offering assistance to people of Caribbean descent in obtain-
ing permanent residency in the United States through church sponsorship;
and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Isaiah's Temple of Mount Hope Spir-
itual Baptist Church stands on the threshold of tomorrow, prepared to
meet the challenges of the coming decades while retaining that spiritual
resolve which characterizes its past; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Isaiah's Temple of Mount Hope Spiritual Baptist Church upon the
occasion of hosting Brooklyn's Stellar Women and Gospel Extravaganza;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Archbishop Dr. Voni Johyn.
