LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Port Washington Clergy Association
upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the Citizen of the
Year Award by the Community Chest of Port Washington

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Port Washington Clergy Association upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Community Chest of
Port Washington, to be celebrated on Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Paul
D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1969, the Community Chest of Port Washington has chosen
an extraordinary resident, residents or organization as its Citizen of
the Year; the award is given to honor outstanding service on behalf of
the community of Port Washington; and
WHEREAS, This year's recipient, the Port Washington Clergy Association
is a volunteer organization which provides outstanding service on behalf
of all the residents of Port Washington; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Port Washington Clergy Association are
dedicated, caring spiritual leaders from differing faiths and tradi-
tions, who gather to build and support stronger relationships with each
other and their community; and
WHEREAS, Through interfaith services and social welfare activities the
Clergy Association members foster increased understanding, tolerance,
acceptance and respect for the diversity of the Port Washington communi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Port Washington Clergy Association are

Watkins, Rabbi Jodie Siff, Rabbi Lee Friedlander, Cantor Eric Schulmil-
ler, Judith Wolf, Co-President, Sondra Winder, Co-President, Elvira
Jeffcott, Rep., Reverend Monos, Mission Pentecostal Church, Reverend
A.J. Burt, Rabbi Michael Mishkin, Cantor Baruch Blum, Reverend David
Kim, Reverend James Furman, Rabbi Sheila Goloboy, Reverend Fr. Steve
Peterson, Reverend Sr. Gerri O'Neill, Reverend Sr. Kathy Somerville,
Reverend Fr. Andrew Patrick Connolly, Emeritus, Rabbi Irwin Zeplowitz,
Rabbi Ben Sternman, Cantor Claire Franco, Fr. Dennis Strouzas, Fr. Evan
Evangelidis, Reverend Dr. Charles R. Vogeley, Reverend Fr. Patrick Whit-
ney, Reverend Fr. Arnulfo, Jara Galvez, Sr. Peggy Tully, Deacon Frank
D'Angelo, The Reverend Barbara Hutchinson, Reverend W. Kurt von Roes-
chlaub, Emeritus, Rabbi Shalom Paltiel, Pastor John Brackbill, and
Reverend John Michael Thomas, Emeritus; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Port Washington Clergy Association upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Commu-
nity Chest of Port Washington; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Port Washington Clergy Association.
