LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Georgette Davis upon the occasion of her
designation as the 2011 District 9 Town Clerk of the Year by the New
York State Town Clerk's Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community and their profession; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Georgette
Davis upon the occasion of her designation as the 2011 District 9 Town
Clerk of the Year by the New York State Town Clerk's Association on May
2, 2011, at its annual conference in Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition, on Thursday, June 2, 2011, Georgette Davis was
also recognized by the St. Lawrence County Municipal Clerk's Associ-
ation; and
WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Georgette Davis diligently
serves as the distinguished Town Clerk of Massena, New York; she was
nominated for this prestigious honor by her fellow Clerks in District 9,
which include St. Lawrence, Franklin and Essex Counties; and
WHEREAS, Georgette Davis is one of the finest, conscientious, hard-
working and most caring people in St. Lawrence County, as well as
District 9; she is a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother as well as
having served her Town, County and State in various capacities during
her 15 years as Town Clerk; and
WHEREAS, Georgette Davis has been active within her community and also
earned the distinction of being named the 2010 Woman of the Year for the
St. Lawrence County Chapter of New York State Women, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, As Massena Town Clerk, Georgette Davis serves as Registered
Municipal Clerk, Registrar of Vital Statistics, Notary Public, Marriage
Officer and Records Management Officer; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Georgette Davis is a member of the
Kiwanis Club and is a former T-ball Coach for Massena Little League; she
is Past President, Secretary & Treasurer of the Massena Softball Associ-
ation and is a former member of the Massena Business and Professional
Women's Group; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated and respected throughout her field, Georgette Davis
is a shining star; she is a woman of grace who exemplifies the virtues
of sacrifice, excellence, determination and self-confidence; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned recognition and applause; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Georgette Davis upon the occasion of her designation as the 2011
District 9 Town Clerk of the Year by the New York State Town Clerk's
Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Georgette Davis.
