LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Cypress Hills Local Development
Corporation upon the occasion of its Annual Meeting and Celebration of
Community Progress on January 20, 2011 and recognizing the honorees of
the evening

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to organizations and individuals of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have a significant impact on the lives of
others and the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation upon the occasion of its
Annual Meeting and Celebration of Community Progress, to be held at the
Cypress Hills-Fulton Street Senior Center on Thursday, January 20, 2011,
and to recognize the honorees of the evening; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1983, the Cypress Hills Local Development Corpo-
ration is a not-for-profit community organization serving 8,000 resi-
dents a year through a comprehensive array of community service programs
and neighborhood development projects; and
WHEREAS, Each year at its Annual Meeting and Celebration of Community
Progress, the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation proudly pays
tribute to those who have supported the Corporation and have helped to
further its mission and efforts; and
WHEREAS, The Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation's 2011 hono-
rees are: Yvonne Cook, recipient of the Cypress Hills Board of Direc-
tors Lifetime Achievement Award; Michelle Denise Brown, recipient of the
Cypress Hills Distinguished Staff Service Award; The George Walker Jr.
Community Coalition, Inc. and its Executive Director Carolyn Walker-
Diallo, Esq. and Deputy Executive Director of Community Affairs Salema
Davis, recipients of the Cypress Hills Community Hero Award; Dennis and
Nancy Moore, recipients of The Cypress Hills Neighborhood Improvement
and Beautification Award; and Jorel Moore, recipient of the Cypress
Hills Young Activist Award; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively and creatively serving the Cypress Hills
community, the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has estab-
lished itself as a preeminent organization dedicated to enhancing and
improving the community and justly merits the recognition and appreci-
ation of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation upon the occa-
sion of its Annual Meeting and Celebration of Community Progress on
January 20, 2011 and to applaud the honorees of the evening; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation and to the
honorees of the evening.
