LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Christopher Gibbons upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Caribbean Cultural Thea-
tre

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly recognize
those extraordinary individuals who have made contributions to the
cultural enrichment of the State of New York and to the success and
progress of society in the course of their life's work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Christopher Gibbons upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Caribbean Cultural Theatre on Sunday, June 12, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, Christopher Gibbons is being honored for his support of
Caribbean Cultural Theatre and its current project "Poets & Passion V -
Celebration of the Word"; and
WHEREAS, The Caribbean Cultural Theatre is a Brooklyn, New York, based
performing arts ensemble dedicated to presenting a balanced rendering of
Caribbean culture and the Caribbean-American experience; and
WHEREAS, The Poets & Passion series was created as an outlet for
talented Caribbean and Caribbean-American writers and spoken word
artists to engage New York area audiences; it has also afforded those
audiences, irrespective of background, opportunities to explore the
bitter-sweet narratives of the immigrant experience in inviting ways
through the simple act of telling a good story; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Gibbons was born in Berwick, Pennsylvania, but
raised in Queens, New York; after graduating from St. Francis College in
1996, he began his career working for USA Networks' Affiliate Relations
office and after three years, he returned to work at St. Francis College
as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations; and
WHEREAS, A short while later, Christopher Gibbons was promoted to
Director of Events at St. Francis College, a position which he held for
nearly a decade; it was during this time that he became involved with
numerous arts organizations, including the Caribbean Cultural Theatre;
and
WHEREAS, As the Director of Events, Christopher Gibbons had the privi-
lege of helping the Caribbean Cultural Theatre find a home at St. Fran-
cis College and continued to work with the organization until he left
the College in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Gibbons currently works for Brooklyn Law School
supervising the Events Office; he is a true asset to society; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Bevin and their son
Brendan Michael, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life
and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Christopher Gibbons's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Christopher Gibbons upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Caribbean Cultural Theatre; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Christopher Gibbons.
