LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David Kingsley upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Community Service Award by the Heuvelton
Central School District Alumni Association

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, David Kingsley has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor David Kingsley
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Community
Service Award by the Heuvelton Central School District Alumni Associ-
ation, to be celebrated at the Alumni Dinner on Saturday, August 20,
2011, at the Heuvelton Fire Hall, Heuvelton, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1974 graduate of Heuvelton Central School District (HCS),
David Kingsley received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from
Cornell University; he has been the president of Heuvelton Historical
Association since 2001; and
WHEREAS, David Kingsley has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A three-time board member of the HCS Board of Education,
David Kingsley has been a coach for boys' modified basketball since
1980; he helps run the "Give Back Basketball Camp" for elementary boys
and girls each spring; he converted his barn into a regulation size
basketball court about 15 years ago; this court is open 24/7 to any and
all who want to play basketball; and
WHEREAS, David Kingsley has been heavily involved in securing funding
for restoration of Pickens Hall and has overseen the restoration
construction; he works tirelessly for the cause, making phone calls,
providing materials from his shop and basically doing whatever needs to
be done; and
WHEREAS, David Kingsley is also a member of the Cornerstone Wesleyan
Church, where he is an organist, guitarist and teaches adult Sunday
School; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, David Kingsley has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Debbie, and their
four children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which David Kingsley has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David Kingsley upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Community Service Award by the Heuvelton Central School District
Alumni Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Kingsley.
