LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Beak and
Skiff Apple Farm

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those busi-
nesses and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
and commend those who work to better their local community and work hard
to keep a local tradition alive; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of the Beak and Skiff Apple Farm; and
WHEREAS, The Beak and Skiff Apple Farm originated in 1911 by founders
Charles Andrew Beak and George Skiff and has remained a family business
ever since; and
WHEREAS, This family business has continuously grown since its begin-
nings, as the Beak and Skiff Apple Farm has expanded to include a cafe,
winery, bakery, and most recently a vodka distillery; and
WHEREAS, The Beak and Skiff Apple Farm has continued to uphold its
outstanding service to the community until this day, and remains dedi-
cated to promoting a family environment for members of the community to
enjoy; and
WHEREAS, An industry such as this relies so heavily on the weather,
and consequently, the Beak and Skiff Apple Farm has seen tough times
over its century of existence; and
WHEREAS, The Beak and Skiff Apple Farm has remained dedicated to its
cause of providing an enjoyable experience for members of the community
both on and off the premises; and
WHEREAS, Individuals can enjoy a tour of the facilities, the experi-
ence of pick-your-own apples, and participate in family activities at
the Beak and Skiff Apple Farm; and
WHEREAS, The Beak and Skiff Apple Farm has remained dedicated, even
through hard times, to serving the community for the past century; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a business
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Beak and Skiff Apple Farm; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the current owners of Beak and Skiff Apple Farm: Candy "Beak"
Morse, Jackie Beak, Steve Morse, Lynn "Skiff" Fleckenstein, Mark Fleck-
enstein and Tim Beak, the fourth generation of the Beak & Skiff Family.
