LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lieutenant Gregory Mosley upon the occa-
sion of his retirement after 32 years of dedicated service to the New
York State Police
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lieu-
tenant Gregory Mosley upon the occasion of his retirement after 32 years
of dedicated service to the New York State Police; this auspicious occa-
sion will be celebrated on Friday, June 17, 2011, at a retirement party
to be held in his honor at Anthony's Banquet Hall in Catskill, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Gregory Mosley joined the New York State Police on
September 24, 1979, after honorably serving in the United States Marine
Corps for four years; and
WHEREAS, After successfully completing New York State Police Academy
training, Trooper Gregory Mosley was assigned to Troop K-SP Claverack;
one year later, he was transferred to Troop T/Zone 1 where he remained
until returning to Troop K in 1985; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Trooper Gregory Mosley was promoted to Investigator
and assigned to the Troop K Narcotics Unit; he was subsequently promoted
to Senior Investigator in 1994 and to Technical Lieutenant-Affirmative
Action Officer in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Lieutenant Gregory
Mosley has received numerous laudatory acknowledgements of service from
many citizens and organizations; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Gregory Mosley has been commended by the Super-
intendent of the New York State Police for his unwavering dedication; he
was also twice the recipient of the George M. Searle Award for excel-
lence in training, and received the Trooper William McDonagh Award, the
highest award conferred by the New York State Police for community
service; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Lieutenant Gregory Mosley is also the recipient
of the Points of Light, Presidential Service Award, for achievements in
communities throughout the United States; the award was presented by
President William J. Clinton; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Lieutenant Gregory Mosley has
rendered invaluable service to numerous organizations; the President and
Founder of Operation UNITE, he was active in the Shoot for Success
Basketball Training Program, the NAACP, NOBLE, City of Hudson Mayor's
Advisory Board, Minorities in Criminal Justice, NYS Career Mobility
Committee and was Chair of the Affirmative Action Advisory Council; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 33 years, Elena,
three children, GlenPaul, Tristin and Emel, and two beloved grandchil-
dren, Noah and Annalise Eliana, who feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Gregory Mosley credits his greatest inspiration to
his parents, Glemby and the late Lois Mosley; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lieutenant Gregory Mosley upon the occasion of his retirement
after 32 years of dedicated service to the New York State Police; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lieutenant Gregory Mosley.
