LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Yvonne Agnes Lecky upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Agnes Lecky has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Yvonne Agnes
Lecky upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition, to
be celebrated on her 80th Birthday on Friday, June 24, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Lecky has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Yvonne Lecky worked as a civil
servant and acted as an ambassador on excursion to Europe on behalf of
Jamaica, West Indies; she is a graduate of Medgar Evers College and
proudly became a United States citizen around 1988; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Brooklyn, Yvonne Lecky worked in the banking
industry; she served at the Chemical Bank at the United Nations for 10
years; and
WHEREAS, Yvonne Lecky married Errol George Lecky and they had three
children, Robert, Elizabeth and Theresa; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Yvonne Lecky has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Yvonne Lecky has displayed through-
out her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Yvonne Agnes Lecky upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Yvonne Agnes Lecky.
