LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Linda Mangano upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Special Humanitarian Award from the New
York State Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc., Order Sons of Italy in America
on Friday, January 27, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Linda Mangano upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Special Humanitarian Award from the New York State Grand Lodge Founda-
tion, Inc., Order Sons of Italy in America on Friday, January 27, 2012;
and
WHEREAS, This fine event is the organization's 19th Anniversary Winter
Charity Ball, to be held at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bethpage, New York, Linda Mangano is
currently the Editor and Publisher of the BETHPAGE TRIBUNE, a local
community newspaper; she also serves as the President of the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce as well as a mentor and advisor for the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce Junior League; and
WHEREAS, A community activist, Linda Mangano is actively involved with
the Hofstra University Parent's Council, Bethpage Federal Credit Union
Turkey Drop, Toys for Tots, and the American Cancer Society's Relay for
Life; she has received numerous awards for her civic involvement and
dedication to children, some of which include: the American Legion Gold
Citizenship Medal, the Nassau Council of Chambers Business Person of the
Year Award, the Handz Up for Kidz Award, the Woman of the Year Award,
and the Nassau Region PTA Jenkins Award; and
WHEREAS, Linda Mangano's greatest passion has been her involvement
with the Bethpage PTA for over 14 years where she has served on various
executive boards, and has chaired numerous committees; her most recent
accomplishment has been her involvement with the Bethpage School
District Safe Halloween Program that serves well over 2,000 children and
provides a safe environment for trick or treating; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Nassau County
Executive Edward Mangano, giving her the esteemed title of First Lady of
Nassau County, and their children, Sal and Alex, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Mangano upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Special Humanitarian Award from the New York State Grand Lodge Foun-
dation, Inc., Order Sons of Italy in America on Friday, January 27,
2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Mangano.
