LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Dennis A. Kahn, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Dennis A. Kahn of East Amherst, New York, died on Monday,
February 6, 2012, at the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, Dennis Kahn distinguished himself in his profession and by
his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; and
WHEREAS, Dennis Kahn, a longtime attorney with the prominent Buffalo
law firm Siegel, Kelleher and Kahn, was born in Eggertsville and
attended the University at Buffalo and graduated with honors as a
national member of Phi Beta Kappa; he earned his law degree from the
University of Akron, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Dennis Kahn joined the firm, which later bore his name, in
1976 and became a partner in 1980; he was recognized in "Who's Who" in
law and nominated as "Best in Field -- Personal Injury"; he assisted in
expanding the firm to become the sixth-largest law firm in Western New
York; and
WHEREAS, A patron of the arts, Dennis Kahn was on the board at Shea's
Performing Arts Center for nearly a decade; he was a supporter of Women
& Children's Hospital, the Erie County Bar Association and the Buffalo
Zoo, where three resident lions are named Siegel, Kelleher and Kahn; and
WHEREAS, Dennis Kahn's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Dennis Kahn is survived by his wife, Carrie, his son,
Maxwell, and his sister, Robin; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Dennis Kahn leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all he
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Dennis A. Kahn, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Dennis A. Kahn.
